Uniform Policy

Students are expected to come to school with proper attention having been given to personal cleanliness, grooming, and neatness of dress. Students whose personal attire or grooming distracts the attention of other students or teachers from their schoolwork shall be required to make the necessary alterations to such attire or grooming before entering the classroom or be sent home by the principal to be properly prepared for school. Students who fail to meet the minimum acceptable standards of cleanliness and neatness as determined by the principal and as specified in this policy shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary measures. 

Administrative Uniform Checks: 3 warnings – parent is notified and a phone call from a counselor for preventative measures After 3 infractions – lunch detention. 

Mater Key Academy Uniform Policy

The appearance of the members of the Mater Key Academy family is of paramount importance to us as we believe that pride in our appearance is fundamental to good character development and success. The following is the uniform policy that is endorsed by the school. Students are required to follow this policy, and failure to do so will result in administrative action being taken against the student. Uniforms must be worn every day. Students who arrive at school without a proper uniform may be sent home, and a warning documenting the violation of this policy will be issued. After three (3) violations of this policy, the student will be issued a referral that will be placed in the student’s permanent record. 

Kindergarten – 5th Grade:

Sky-blue polo with navy trim or red polo with white trim, embroidered with the Mater Key logo, along with straight-leg, full-length navy pants with the Mater Key logo. Any undershirts worn must be white and plain. Navy blue or gray school sweater with Mater Key logo. Belts worn must be plain black or brown. Shoes must be rubber-soled, solid color black or white closed-toe shoes or sneakers with socks. Sneakers with “lights,” Sandals, and platform shoes will not be permitted. A sneaker color combination of black and white may also be worn. Hair must be neat, clean, and away from the face. No hats, bandanas, or sweatbands may be worn. Hair may not be dyed with unnatural colors or maintained in an unacceptable condition. Students may not wear distracting or dangerous jewelry such as large hoops, large necklaces with charms. Make-up, tattoos, long acrylic nails, or glitter will not be permitted. Students should only wear school T-shirts when allowed, on Fridays. No other clothes will be allowed on Friday, JeanDay. Students should have their lanyard and Mater Key Academy ID with lunch number worn at all times. 

Students should have enough uniform tops and bottoms for the week. Any student not wearing a complete school uniform, or in violation of the above-mentioned uniform policy, will be issued a uniform violation notice. Any student who receives 3 uniform warnings will be issued a referral.
